the 100th day of school

We started the morning off with a guest appearance from Zero the Hero!
He led us in the Number Stomp dance... it was a blast!

I transformed into J. Willy Armbuckle but I went by the name of Pappy. I stayed in character all day and the kids fell in love with Pappy. It was too funny! Most of them thought they knew it was me but they were still a bit unsure.
We made 100 hats, stamped 100 dots, counted various objects that were brought in like rice, beads, pennies, cereal, Pokemon cards, etc.
They also made self portraits of what they will look lik when they are 100 years old. These portraits will be making their way into the CAE hallway pretty soon!
Zero the Hero left a special snack for the class. Two donuts and a pretzel stick... hmm, I wonder why?? Oh, because you can make the number 100 out of those things. The kids loved this special treat!
At the end of the day, Pappy got a lot of drawings and notes about how great he was. He only shows up once a year though... only on the 100th day of school. That is when he subs for Mrs. Hendrix ;)
