When I taught 2nd grade one of my favorite things to do was to teach my class various reader's theaters. We'd practice them all week and then on that Friday we would go perform the plays for Mrs. Faustino's class (pre-k am/pm). It was always a blast and I thought it really taught the 2nd graders tons of important skills (public speaking, fluency, inflection, confidence, how to entertain, etc). So, it is an amazing feeling to know that I can also do the same thing with a younger class!
And what an excellent job they all did - especially for their first time performing (and they must had been so nervous because they were all just in pre-k last year)! It was too cute!
Everyone got a chance to act it out in class. Later, names were drawn to see who got chosen for the different roles (book holder aka "teacher", mom, dad, 3 kittens and the singers/narrators).
Kristy: "teacher"
Evan: dad
Zoish: mom
Trey: kitten
Sarah: kitten
Anthony: kitten
Alexa: teacher
Garrett: dad
Mia: mom
Bailey: kitten
CJ: kitten
Alysha: kitten
We used props like magnifying glasses to look for our mittens, mittens, a hamburger bun on a plate (our pie), parent clothes and balls of yarn to play with.
