September

These were the finalist for the most creative M monsters. We read the book Monsters Need Haircuts
and then the class had to turn their letter M into the scariest, silliest or most creative monster.
I had a judge pick the best and she couldn't narrow it down from these 6.
Congrats to the finalist who were making their best monster faces!

Here is Audrey leading the class in reading My A Book.
We took turns highlighting the word "the" since it is our
password for this week.

The class really enjoyed reading Moosetache
and If You Give a Moose a Muffin. We then made our own
If you Give a Moose a Muffin book. The class had to think of something
that started with the letter M that the moose would want
after his muffin. They did a great job illustrating this book.
At the end of the year every student will go home with at least
one class book. This is why I am always asking for extra
folders with brads. :)

On Thursday we played Grab a Shape.
The students grabbed shapes, sorted and then counted how
many of each shape that they had. These were then glued into their
journals. This is a great game you can play at home.

We also made shapes out of toothpicks.
Can you make a circle out of toothpicks?
Impossible!

This week we are talking about sorting by shape,
size and color -- aka attributes. Below are several pictures
of the kids sorting various objects. They did EXCELLENT with
this so far. This is another fun activity you can do at
home with your child.
