Nov. 26-30th: Maps, Temperature and Letter O + More

MAPS:

Kaidence shows off her journal where we wrote:
I see the globe.
The kids really enjoyed getting to explore
the globe and making a Venn Diagram about how
maps and globes are different.
They also have enjoyed reading and studying
the World Atlas books that we borrowed
from the library.
Gaby points to the continents as we sing
the 7 continents song.
Here's the song we love to sing to learn all 7 continents
"Seven Continents" (to the tune of "Where is Thumbkin?")
Seven continents, Seven continents
On our Earth, On our Earth
North and South America
Europe, Asia, Africa
Australia, Antarctica.  Australia, Antarctica

Eva shows off her journal and her world map and we wrote:
I live in North America

After studying about our continent, North America. We wrote:
I live in the United States.
Jayla shows off her lovely work in her journal.

 Kyra investigating the globe.

Last we wrote:
I live in Texas.
Hanif did a great job of decorating his map
with fireworks in Texas colors.

RELATIVE TEMPERATURE:

Nathan and Kya draw and compare things
that are warm and things that are cold.
The kids got to illustrate a picture describing
hot or cold temperatures.

LETTER Oo WEEK:
 Jayla's work
 Amir's work
 Tyler's work
 Joshua's work

We wrote in our journals using our
passwords that and is using
/Oo/ words.

Gwendolyn made a list of long O words
and short O words. We talked about this in class.
See if your child can do the same thing at home.

We learned interesting facts about the octopus.
Then the kids illustrated their own octopus and wrote about it.

MISC:
Gaby, Audrey and Logan play their
math games on firstinmath.com.

Hanif has the highest score in the class!
He got to wear the Player of the Day badge.
The top 5 are: Hanif, Amir, Eva, Ben and Gwendolyn.

The green reading group got to compare animals
as pets and decide why some pets make good animals and why
some pets don't make good pets. They wrote their
answers on dry erase boards and shared with the group.
A few of the members from the purple reading group
are busy reading their favorite page and then writing it
on dry erase boards.
Amir and Bryson hard at work.
Logan making creations out of shapes.
An example of one of our literacy centers from this week.
We used spelling dictionaries to make lists.

Woohoo! Treasure chest time has arrived! This week
we started our first Treasure Chest Shop.
Your child earns tickets for good behavior and work.
On Friday mornings, they can turn in 10 tickets to me
and get something out of the Treasure Chest Store.

Eva counts out 10 tickets to the store owner (me)

WE HAD A GREAT WEEK!
