Our Native American Names

Perhaps your child has come home this week telling you that they have a new name. Indeed, they do! This week to celebrate our theme of your children being transformed into Native Americans for our study of Thanksgiving and for our Thanksgiving Feast on Friday, I have given them Native American names.  I tried to fit their new name to their personality or looks.

Check them out below...

Joshua: Rowtag "fire"
Hanif: Songan "strong"
Ben: Siwili "tail of a fox"
Tyler: Uzumati "bear"
Logan: Tokala "fox"
Amir: Peta "golden eagle"
Bryson: Nawat "left-handed"
Nathan: Moki "deer"
Troy: Fala "crow"
Cody: Wapi "lucky"
Joey: Mochni "talking bird"

Kya: Bly "tall"
Traci: Mosi "cat"
Andrea: Chilaili "snowbird"
Kyra: Abey "leaf"
Eva: Doli "bluebird"
Audrey: Leotie "flower of the prairie"
Gaby: Alawa "pea"
Gwendolyn: Luyu "wild dove"
Jayla: Aponi "butterfly"
Kaidence: Amitola "rainbow"

Friday, your children be decked out in our Native American garb that we have been working on in class (headbands and necklaces). It is optional for you to also have them design a shirt or vest with Native American symbols or something representing their name. It is a fun day for girls to dress up wear their hair in braided pigtails.
