The Little Red Hen

This week we read and discussed The Little Red Hen.

The kids really enjoyed this story. The class was divided up into

groups and they had to practice retelling

the story with their character puppets. Each group then

went and performed for a different important person around

the school. We performed for the office staff, FALS class,

Mrs. Faustino's pre-k class and even for Ms. Bailey.

It was really cute and they all did an amazing job!

Ask your child to use their puppet to retell the story for you!

Whew! It's been a hectic two weeks. I've been out several days developing GT curriculum for the district, planning for CAE kinder and illness (boo!). We've started our farm unit and the kids really love it - just ask them to sing you a verse from the Animals on the Farm (tune of The Wheels on the Bus).

HAPPY BDAY FORREST

Happy bday to Forrest who turned 6 on October 13th!

Oct. 10-14

This week we were studying spiders, the letter Pp and numbers 0-5. We did lots of fun activities to celebrate the letter Pp. For example, we got to make purple plastic purses after reading Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. The boys got a kick out of making "murses" (man purses). We also read If You Give a Pig a Pancake and got to eat pancakes!!! And last but certainly not least, WE HAD PAJAMA DAY!!!!!!!

Eating panckes!

syllables were in the word.

Spiders are super!

We read fiction and expository books about spiders.

Parents, thanks for all the great conferences we had this week! Communication is key!!! :)

Star of the Week (Oct. 3-7)

Emerson Rose Voldan was our Star of the Week

for 10/3-10/7. She wants to be a police officer

Week of Oct. 3-7

This week our themes were friendship and pumpkins.

We read books about friendship, like Frog and Toad

(a class favorite), surveyed our friends

about their favorite activities, made a friendship book

and discussed what it means to be a friend.

We did a lot of fun activities with pumpkins.

We tasted pumpkin seeds and then graphed

whether or not we liked how they tasted.

We also got to carve a pumpkin, which the class named

Harry. Jasmin was the lucky winner of Harry

and she got to take him home. The class LOVED

feeling what the inside of a pumpkin feels like.

But they weren't too keen on the smell!

Friday was Silly Sock Day and also

Pickles & Popcorn Day. The popcorn fairy

delivered popcorn to everyone in the class!

Yum yum!
