Also, please send your child in clothes that are appropriate for the weather and to play at the park (ie: tennis shoes, no dresses, etc)

Eggs + more

We did a couple of different experiments with eggs last week. We cracked an uncooked egg and examined the different parts (yolk, white, and shell). We also cracked a hardboiled egg and compared the two eggs. We put a hardboiled egg in vinegar to show that vinegar will make the egg shell soft and deteriorate. If you put a peeled hardboiled egg in vinegar, over time it will make the egg rubbery.

Field Trip Tomorrow

If you plan on meeting at CAE to either carpool or follow the bus (parents are not allowed on the bus), then please arrive around 9:20. The buses are scheduled to arrive at 9:30am.

Bugs starts at 11:05am and ends at 11:50am. We will be arriving to the Omni a little after 10am -- to ensure that we get great seats, time for bathroom breaks, and time for snacks.

We will arrive at Stovall Park for lunch around 12:30pm. The bus will depart Stovall Park around 1:45pm. If you wish to check out your child from the park, you must go to CAE and get a check out slip. Teachers are not allowed to dismiss students from the park unless a check out slip is provided.

Heavier or Lighter? + Measuring Area

We compared the weight of various objects to the weight of 1/2 cup of beans. We made predictions if the objects would be heavier or lighter than the beans, then we weighed them, and last we recorded our answers on the chart.
We also made predictions about how many cubes we thought we fit into certain objects on the rug. It took 16 cubes to fill up the window, 45 cubes was the area of the door, and 36 cubes was the area of the mountain.

Plant Study

Most of our flowers have started to sprout. A few still
haven't. I am really hoping that all of the seeds eventually sprout!

"Mmmmm.. delicious!" Giving it a wild man shake!

Grow, grow!

We did an experiment to show how
a plant's stem sucks up the water
and gives it to the leaves. We put celery
in green food coloring and by the next day
we could see the green food coloring in the stem
and on the leaves.
