Character Dress Up Day!!

Fancy Nancy(s), Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pete the Cat, Tin Man, Dorothy, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, Lion (from a fable) and Pinkilicious all made guest apperances on Character Dress Up Day.
All of the students who participated in the Character Projects did such a FANTASTIC job!
Kaidence completely portrayed Fancy Nancy and did a very fAnCY job when presenting. Gwendolyn was exceptional at describing her Little Red Riding Hood diorama and she was the cutest
Little Red I've ever seen. Ben really enjoyed showing off his super creative Peter Pan and Tinkerbell
sock puppets and was excited to present his project. A few friends who also made projects did not get to present due to illness but will be sharing their projects on Oct. 31st. I am really proud of everyone who participated and all of the projects and presentations were fabulous!

Field Trip to Green Meadows Farm

The kids LOVED getting to milk the cow.
Nathan got squirted a bit :)

The llamas and alpacas were also a big hit.

 How could you resist petting
these sweet little babies!

The daddy pig was 600-700lbs!!! He loved laying in his mud hole and having
his belly scratched with the rake.

The animal show, pig tricks and pig race was fun
to watch. Our pig, Barry, came in 2nd place.

 We loved the bumpy hayride!

The sweet baby goat was so precious!!

Turtles, guinea pigs, a hedgehog, chicks and rabbits!

These were the friendliest geese, chickens and turkeys
I have ever been around.

The goats were SO hungry!

The kids liked the emus, mule and donkeys too.

We all left with a pumpkin too!

WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!

Pumpkins oh Pumpkins! and more....

Mon-Wed and Fridays we go to the kindergarten lab
to work on either Fast ForWord (FFWD) or I Station (ISIP).
The kids really LOVE these games. We also play them in class
every free chance we get. They are excellent reading programs.
Ask your child about it.

On Monday we got to be scientist and perform Sink and Float experiments.
It was interesting to see just how many kids predicted that a pumpkin would sink
just because itwas big. Or that the small pumpkin would float
but that the big pumpkin would sink. This is an easy and fun experiment to
do at home with your kids.

Mrs. Hendrix's class is really rocking with reading! Thank you parents
for being so diligent and signing & returning their homework folders
+ leveled readers every day. Practice makes perfect. This week everyone got a
chance to read their book to the reading group. Then Joshua, Eva, Jayla and Gwendolyn
read their books to the ENTIRE class. They all did an amazing job and it takes
a lot of courage to read to your entire class. I am so proud of how hard
they are working and how far they have come so far.
We Rock!

Thank thank you for ALL of the pumpkin donations. We have our
own little pumpkin patch in the classroom! The kids love comparing, counting
and just looking at all the pumpkins. It really helped out when we made
our "Pumpkin on a Vine" picture because we used our
real life pumpkins as our model for our illustration. They loved getting to paint
pumpkins onto their papers and then getting to decorate it with their
own touches. These will be displayed in the halls so keep your eyes open!

Yet another thing we did with our pumpkins is we got to guesstimate
the circumference of our largest pumpkin. Troy, Amir and Joey
all perfectly guess the circumference of our pumpkin!

The class's FAVORITE pumpkin activity was getting to carve and explore the insides
of a pumpkin. They loved digging into the flesh and pulp of the pumpkin while
pulling out tons of seeds. When we finished we carved a jack-o-lantern and
filled out our pumpkin report in our journals.

Another project that will be displayed in the halls are our
jack-o-lanterns. I am really impressed with how fun these
turned out.

No matter what I tried, the pictures would not stop being upside down.
Sorry!
