Week of August 29-September 2

What a GREAT week! Your kiddos learned

a lot about shapes (ask them about sides, corners

and examples of shapes in the real world). We made shape books,

played with the shape feely box, made shapes out of playdoh and

even shapes out of our snack! On Friday, many of your kids

received a sticker for being a shape master! Next week

we will start learning about 3d shapes. Also, don't

forget to have your child make their shape art. They can

create whatever they want using only shapes cut

out from magazines or paper. Jake made an awesome lizard

and Tyler made a cute puppy dog.

Your kids really loved our nursery rhyme this week:

Mary Had a Little Lamb. We watched videos of it

on youtube.com, illustrated our page for their

nursery rhymes book, took turns being Mary

(even the boys), made it silly and traded out our names for Mary

and different animals for the lamb. Did you know that

Forrest had a little dinosaur? Ava had a little Georgia!

The kids REALLY enjoyed it!

Your kids were also introduced to some

literacy centers. They built words and names

with magnetic letters and snap cubes. They

matched upper and lowercase letters. They were

great at teamwork!
